SM ZAKARIA

Sultan Mohammed Zakaria is the Associate Editor of South Asia Perspectives. Zakaria is a writer, educator, and researcher. He has more than a decade of experience in studying democratic governance and geopolitics in the South Asia region. Zakaria’s expertise lies in democratic deficits, human rights and citizenship education, and geopolitics of South Asia. Currently, he is also serving as a senior education editor for the Wisconsin Journal of Education Law and Policy, and an advisor to the Institute for International and Regional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Zakaria previously served as a South Asia researcher for Amnesty International and a fellow for Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights in Washington D.C. His academic affiliations include Brandeis University, Boston University, University of Amsterdam, and BRAC University.
