Washington, DC, 20 June 2023 – As part of the “Ambassador Series” initiative, the Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, delivered a compelling speech at the esteemed Middle East Institute (MEI). At the MEI, eminent US scholars, diplomats, and opinion leaders convened for an off-the-record roundtable discussion with Ambassador Khan on Pak-US relations, regional dynamics, and international events with regional security and stability implications.
The newly introduced “Ambassador Series” hosted by MEI aims to provide a forum for ambassadors to discuss the challenges and issues facing their respective countries, governments, and societies, focusing on the Middle East and South Asia.
The prominent event drew notable experts from prestigious institutions, including the USIP, Hudson Institute, Council on Foreign Relations, Atlantic Council, Stimson Centre, Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, University of Delaware, New York University, George Washington University, and Sierra Nevada Corporation. In attendance were also representatives from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Congressional Research Service, as well as former US Ambassadors to Tunisia and Pakistan and other senior diplomats.
Ambassador Masood Khan provided insight into the current situation in Pakistan and cast light on significant developments during his address. After the presentation, a lively question-and-answer session allowed participants to delve deeper into the topics.
Ambassador Khan thanked MEI President Paul Salem and Vice President of Policy Brian Katulis on Twitter for assembling such a distinguished group of experts, diplomats, and opinion leaders for the event. In addition, he thanked Ambassador Gerald Feierstein (ret.) for moderating the session with exceptional skill and etiquette.
