The Iftar Mahfil of Astoria Welfare Society USA, one of New York’s social organizations, was held on Tuesday, April 11. Hundreds of people including mainstream politicians, public representatives, various professionals, and community leaders joined the Iftar party.
Moderated by Astoria Welfare Society General Secretary Javed Uddin and chaired by President Sohail Ahmed, US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, State Senator Christina Ganjalaz, Councilwoman Julie Onn, State Assembly Member Zahran K Mamdani and New York City Police 114 Precinct Deputy Inspector Kenneth Gorment were the guests.

Councilwoman (District 26) Julie Owen presented the Proclamation Award on behalf of the City Council to Astoria Welfare Society General Secretary Javed Uddin for his important role in community service.
At the iftar party, Imam Maulana Neshar Ahmed of Al Amin Mosque conducted a discussion and prayer on the significance of Ramadan. A special prayer is prayed for the peace of the world’s humanity including the Muslim Ummah.
Everyone present including the mainstream politicians praised the Astoria Welfare Society for organizing this Iftar and Doa Mahfil. President of the organization Sohail Ahmed and General Secretary Javed Uddin thanked everyone for participating in the event.
